What We’re Doing in Peru
This January, we’re heading back to Peru with our incredible partners at Belmond for a trip that’s all about culture, comfort, and unforgettable views. From the vibrant streets of Lima to the serene Sacred Valley and the historic charm of Cusco, every detail has been thoughtfully curated. A true highlight: a round-trip aboard the iconic Belmond Hiram Bingham train to Machu Picchu, complete with elegant dining and breathtaking views.
With most meals and activities included in the ticket price—and just the right amount of free time—you’ll experience the wonders of the Incan world in signature Belmond style.
Our itineraries are carefully crafted to give you a balance of planned group activities and free time to spend at leisure. For example, one day you’ll have the morning at leisure before exploring Lima together on a food tour during the evening. Other days we’ll be traveling together in the morning to our next location, and you’ll have the afternoon to yourself to enjoy activities and facilities at the hotel before the group comes together for dinner.
But don’t worry… even with the free time you’re given, our team is here to equip you with ample suggestions and additional opportunities to sign up for so you’re never short of things to do.
For more details on our list of activities, see the pricing and inclusions list below.
Meet Your Hosts
Yasmine, our Director of Operations, has led multiple Atlas Adventures trips around the world and prides herself in creating authentic travel experiences that invites attendees to connect deeply with local culture, savor regional cuisine, and leave with lasting memories. She’s thrilled to be collaborating once again with the exceptional Belmond team to craft this journey and share such a unique and inspiring part of the world with the Atlas community.
She’ll be joined by Caitlin, who currently resides in Germany as a full-time photographer who loves to travel, cook, and explore nature! In addition to photography, she is also an Atlas trip leader who has joined and hosted several trips.
Together, they are both excited to return to Peru and share their love of this remarkable country with you!
Who is this trip for?
Atlas Adventures are built around a shared set of values rooted in kindness. We believe in prioritizing connection (whether with locals or fellow travelers), keeping an open mind through all experiences, and being adaptable with all that travel may bring. If the descriptions below sound like you, we want you to join us!
You are extremely flexible, open minded, easy-going and always up for a range of experiences.
You’re a positive person who looks for the best in all circumstances.
You enjoy meeting new people and are keen to make friends on this trip.
You desire to be a better traveler: respecting other people, other cultures + the planet along the way.
UNIQUE CONSIDERATIONS FOR PERU
You’re an adventurous traveler: This destination is best suited for those who are open and excited to immerse themselves in another culture, one that is quite different from our day-to-day life back home.
You’re extremely flexible & willing to roll with the punches. In addition to uncertainty around weather, things like traffic or other travel faux pas are always possible. The Atlas team is always working with your best interest in mind and simply asks for patience & positive attitudes at all times.
You’re comfortable with bumpy car rides. We will be traveling through some bumpy roads between each destination. Travelers should be comfortable riding in the car
You’re prepared for significant altitude: Parts of our trip (especially in Cusco) will be at significant elevation. Altitude sickness can be serious, so consult your doctor before registering (particularly if you have any heart, lung or other severe health problems).
