Where We're Staying
In the heart of Lisbon, between the bohemian Bairro Alto and chic Chiado, Bairro Alto Hotel is a stylish five-star boutique hotel overlooking Praça Luís de Camões. It is the perfect base for exploring the city on foot, with Lisbon’s best shops, restaurants and bars just moments away.
Set in a beautifully restored 18th-century palace in the heart of Porto, InterContinental Porto – Palácio das Cardosas combines classic grandeur with a central location. Just moments from Porto’s historic streets, restaurants and bars, it puts you right in the middle of the action, while still giving you somewhere beautiful to retreat to at the end of the day. With amazing interiors, a spa, and plenty of space to relax, it’s a perfect and luxurious home for our three nights in Porto.
What We’re Doing in Portugal
Atlas Adventures is heading to Portugal, taking in two of the country’s most captivating cities: Lisbon and Porto.
We’ll start with three nights in Lisbon. There will be plenty of time to settle in and explore the neighbourhood, wander the cobbled streets, pop into local shops, find great spots for lunch and get a feel for the city before we dive into everything Lisbon has to offer. We’ll discover Lisbon on a guided food tour and a private TukTuk ride, with optional experiences along the way, including the chance to try your hand at traditional Portuguese tile painting.
Then it’s off to Porto for three nights, where we’ll spend a morning on the water with a private cruise along the Douro River, seeing the city from a different perspective. Afternoons are yours to explore or shop, with optional activities like port tasting, before coming together for dinner and, on our final evening, a special farewell dinner. This trip is all about discovering Portugal through its food, wine & culture.

UNIQUE CONSIDERATIONS FOR portugal
You’re happy to explore on foot and don’t mind uneven terrain. Lisbon and Porto are best experienced by getting out and wandering, so expect plenty of walking throughout the trip. Think cobbled streets, hills, and plenty of exploring, so comfortable shoes are a must.
You enjoy good food and drinks. Food and wine are a big part of this trip, from our Lisbon food tour to port tasting and drinks on our private cruise along the Douro River.
You like a mix of planned experiences and free time. We’ll have plenty of activities organized, but there will also be time to shop, explore, relax, or choose from optional experiences along the way.
You’re up for discovering two very different cities. Lisbon and Porto each have their own character, from Lisbon’s colourful streets and neighbourhoods to Porto’s historic centre and riverside setting. This trip is about experiencing a little bit of both, without trying to pack too much in.
